The University of Digital and AI Management (UniDAIM) has awarded Detrina Evette Crawley the Doctor of Social Work (DSW) in Mental Health and Community Advocacy (Honoris Causa) in recognition of her sustained contributions to mental health counseling, family support, community advocacy, professional leadership, and social change.
Crawley is a Licensed Professional Counselor and Founder and CEO of New Lyfe Counseling Services, where she provides mental and behavioral health services to children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families. Her professional experience includes counseling, crisis intervention, diagnostic assessment, mentoring, and community-based mental health education, as well as supporting juveniles and families through reentry and intervention programs.
She is also the Founder and President of New Lyfe 4 Lyfe, a nonprofit organization dedicated to strengthening families and supporting single mothers and underserved communities. Through the organization, she has facilitated food and clothing assistance, educational and employment resources, mentoring, life-skills development, and community outreach. Her community initiatives include Turkey Drives and Giveaways and a Community Block Party & Giveaway that provided families with resources, support, and opportunities for connection.
Her scholarly interests include adolescent development, juvenile delinquency, African American families, maternal experiences, behavioral health, and social and systemic factors affecting families and communities. Her work reflects a commitment to mental health awareness, resilience, empowerment, and positive social change.
