The University of Digital and AI Management (UniDAIM) is honored to announce the conferral of the Doctor of Science in Humanitarian and Social Development (Honoris Causa) on Professor Nicole Leonie Nugent, in recognition of her outstanding contributions to diplomacy, humanitarian service, and global peacebuilding.
Born in Jamaica, Prof. Nugent is a distinguished academic and diplomat with a remarkable record of service spanning more than 35 years. Her impressive academic achievements include multiple degrees and certifications across Psychology and Counselling, Leadership and Management, Theology and Ministry, Diplomacy, Corporate Governance, Journalism, Media Broadcasting, International Relations, Legal Studies, Political Science, and Mortuary Sciences. She has also completed specialized diplomatic and pastoral training and holds senior academic appointments, including Full Professorship and Distinguished Professorship at CICA International University and Seminary.
Through her leadership as United Nations Permanent Representative and Global Peace Ambassador-at-Large, Prof. Nugent has championed dialogue, equality, and sustainable development initiatives. Her work has impacted communities across the globe, advancing education, health, and empowerment for women, children, and vulnerable groups. Beyond her diplomatic service, she serves as Founder and Chancellor of Gilead International College & Seminary and CEO of the Nikki Nugent Hope and Devine Centre, which supports children with disabilities and promotes social inclusion.
Prof. Nugent’s influence extends to traditional and cultural leadership, where she serves as Queen Mother of the Asankare Region in Ghana, promoting community-led development, culture, and women’s empowerment at the grassroots level. Her humanitarian leadership embodies the values of compassion, service, and transformation that define the spirit of UniDAIM.
As Prof. Nugent expressed in her personal statement:
