The University of Digital and AI Management (UniDAIM) has appointed Dist. Prof. Dr. Lewes Lim as the Inaugural Head of its newly created Department of Business Studies, strengthening the university’s academic leadership as it expands its business education offerings. Dist. Prof. Lim is a Founding Faculty Member of UniDAIM and brings extensive experience spanning academia, entrepreneurship, innovation, management, and research to his new leadership role.
A distinguished academic, serial entrepreneur, lecturer, and researcher, Dist. Prof. Lim is also a reviewer for PLOS ONE, a Scopus-indexed Q1 journal. He is the founder and Managing Director of SCAPA International Pte Ltd, which he established in 2000.
His academic background includes a Doctor of Business Administration from Manipal GlobalNxt University, a PhD in Management from American Management University, a Doctor of Education from European City University, an MSc in Technopreneurship & Innovation from Nanyang Technological University, a Master’s in International Business from Curtin University, and an LL.B. (Hons) from Birmingham City University. He has also completed executive and professional programs at institutions including UC Berkeley, Stanford University, USC, Pepperdine Graziadio Business School, and UCLA.
His professional and academic contributions have earned him a Distinguished Professorship in Business and Entrepreneurship, while his research and scholarly activities include journal reviewing, research publications, and recognition for his work on artificial intelligence and the digital economy. He was also the Best Paper and first-place winner at the International Conference on Research and Development 2023 for his paper, A Review of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and ChatGPT Influencing the Digital Economy.
The Department of Business Studies has been established to develop business leaders equipped with practical expertise in management, strategy, leadership, and organizational decision-making. Its academic portfolio includes the BBA, MBA, and DBA (general), providing a progression from foundational business knowledge to advanced executive leadership and applied research.
As Head of the Department, Dist. Prof. Lim will provide academic and strategic leadership in the development of the department, supporting UniDAIM’s commitment to accessible, relevant, and forward-looking business education. His appointment further reflects the university’s emphasis on combining academic excellence with practical business experience and innovation.
