The University of Digital and AI Management (UniDAIM) proudly announces the successful project defense and graduation of Dr. Mehrez Ben Nasr, who has been awarded the Doctor of Professional Practice (DPP) in Artificial Intelligence Management with Distinction. This achievement reflects not only academic excellence but also a strong commitment to applied, practice-oriented research aligned with real-world industry challenges.
Dr. Ben Nasr’s doctoral project, titled “How Artificial Intelligence Can Transform Insurance in Tunisia: Optimizing Underwriting, Enhancing Claims Management, and Strengthening Fraud Detection,” presents a rigorous and timely investigation into the transformative potential of artificial intelligence within emerging insurance markets. Grounded in both theoretical frameworks and empirical modeling, the research addresses critical inefficiencies in the Tunisian insurance sector, including pricing inaccuracies, operational delays, and persistent fraud losses.
Adopting an explanatory sequential mixed-methods research design, the study integrates qualitative insights from insurance professionals with quantitative actuarial and machine learning models. Key contributions include AI-driven underwriting optimization through Generalized Linear Models, updated mortality modeling using Kaplan–Meier survival analysis, predictive lapse modeling for life insurance retention, AI-powered claims management chatbots, and advanced fraud detection using Random Forest algorithms. Collectively, these models demonstrate substantial operational improvements, measurable financial gains, and a projected return on investment exceeding industry benchmarks.
Beyond its technical depth, the project offers a structured implementation roadmap for insurers, addressing governance, data infrastructure, skills development, and regulatory engagement. The findings underscore the strategic importance of artificial intelligence in strengthening competitiveness, enhancing customer experience, and fostering sustainable growth within Tunisia’s insurance ecosystem. The work stands as a strong example of UniDAIM’s emphasis on research that bridges academic rigor with practical, industry-ready solutions.
Dr. Mehrez Ben Nasr brings over a decade of professional experience in actuarial science and insurance operations to his doctoral work. His achievement exemplifies the global and practice-focused character of UniDAIM’s doctoral community.
The University congratulates Dr. Ben Nasr on this distinguished accomplishment and welcomes him into its growing network of alumni who are shaping the future of digital and AI-driven management worldwide.
